1. What information do we collect?

When you visit this site, analytics tools automatically record:

  • Your IP address (masked or truncated by the tools themselves)
  • Browser type and version, operating system, device type and screen size
  • Time of visit, time on page, which pages you viewed and where you left
  • The referring URL — the site or search result you arrived from
  • On-page behaviour: scroll depth, clicks, and mouse movement

What we do not collect, and could not collect: your name, email address, phone number, postal address, identity documents, bank or card details, or any crypto wallet address or private key. This is a purely static site — no accounts, no comments, no input fields anywhere. The only way to reach us is by email, and there you decide what to tell us.

About session replay

Microsoft Clarity, which this site uses, creates a replay of your session on this site, including scrolling and clicks. This is not screen recording: it captures interactions with this site's pages only, and cannot see your other tabs, your desktop, or anything outside this site.

2. Which third-party services do we use?

Each of the services below receives the browsing data described above:

Third-party services in useas of 2026-08-04
Service Provider Purpose Notes and opt-out
Google Analytics 4 Google Traffic and source analysis You can install Google's official opt-out add-on
Microsoft Clarity Microsoft Behaviour analysis, heatmaps and session replay Per Microsoft's documentation Clarity masks input contents; this site has no inputs in any case
Vercel Vercel Inc. Hosting and content delivery Server logs retain IP and request data; this is required for the site to function and cannot be opted out of

These services are operated by their own companies and their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies. We cannot make commitments on their behalf.

3. How do we use it?

  • To learn what is useful: which card pages and articles get read and which do not, so we can decide what to re-check and update next.
  • To find what is broken: behaviour data shows us which page breaks its layout on a phone, or which link nobody can reach.
  • To measure outcomes: how many readers click through to an issuer to apply.

We do not build profiles of individuals, and we make no attempt to identify any particular reader.

4. Do we share your information?

We do not sell, rent or trade it. Data leaves this site only in these cases:

  • The third-party services above: your browser sends data to them directly — that is how these tools work.
  • Legal obligation: if a competent authority requires it by law.
  • Change of ownership: if this site is merged, acquired or transferred, data may transfer with it. We would post notice on this page beforehand.

5. Affiliate links and revenue disclosure

Some "apply for this card" buttons are affiliate links. If you apply through one, this site may receive a referral fee from the issuer. You never pay more because of it.

After you click such a link the issuer may set a cookie in your browser to attribute the referral. That cookie belongs to the issuer, not to this site.

Links with a commercial relationship are marked rel="sponsored" in the HTML; links without one are not. Whether a relationship exists does not affect ranking, and does not stop us writing about a card's downsides. The full policy is on our methodology page.

6. Cookie policy

The only storage this site sets itself is:

  • cic-theme (browser localStorage, not a cookie) — remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. It holds a single string, contains nothing personal, and is never sent to a server.

All other cookies are set by the third-party services listed above. You can clear or block them in your browser at any time. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect anything on this site — every page is statically generated and readable with JavaScript switched off entirely.

7. How is it protected?

  • HTTPS is enforced across the whole site.
  • This site has no database and no server-side user data. Nothing stored means nothing to leak.
  • Analytics data lives in Google's and Microsoft's systems and is accessible only to this site's operator.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access: you may ask what data relating to you we hold.
  • Deletion: you may ask us to delete the analytics data relating to you. Because we collect nothing that identifies you, we may need details such as the time of your visit and your IP address in order to locate it.
  • Stop being tracked: the most direct route is a browser content blocker, a "do not track" setting, or the official opt-out tools listed in the table above.

9. Minors

This site publishes information about financial products and assumes an adult readership. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor's data has been collected here, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

When we add or remove an analytics tool, or otherwise change how data is handled, we update this page and the date at the top. Material changes are announced on the home page.
